Before the journey, we will work together to set a clear intention. Then, you will be safely guided into a deep meditative state through the powerful beat of the drum, shifting your brainwaves from alpha to theta, allowing access to the spirit world and your inner wisdom.

Afterward, you’ll use a creative art process to integrate the insights and awareness gained and move towards a deeper connection with your authentic self.

Drumming can reduce stress, release tension, and create a sense of inner calm and well-being.

Its rhythmic resonance aligns with the body’s natural energy centers, promoting balance and harmony. Whatever arises in this practice is welcomed—there’s no 'getting it wrong.'

Frequently asked questions about Shamanic Drumming

  • Each session begins with a check in and a chat about what is arising for you and what you’d like to work with. I will help you set a clear intention. I will safely guide you into a meditative state via the drum. After the journey we can explore any reflections or messages that emerged with curiosity and compassion helping to provide grounding and clarity.

  • After a session, people may experience a range of feelings—anything from release, relaxation, and centeredness to heightened clarity or energy. Others may feel the need to rest and recharge. Staying hydrated and taking time for gentle self-care are highly recommended. Changes often unfold gradually, sometimes over days, weeks, or even years, and I encourage you to stay mindful of shifts in your life. I’m here to support you as you integrate these experiences if you need a follow-up session.

  • No prior experience is necessary. Drumming is accessible to anyone open to exploring their inner world, with guidance provided at each step to support your unique experience. Please note that this work is not suitable for those in psychosis or spiritual emergency.

  • The steady rhythm of the medicine drum helps quiet the everyday mind, allowing access to deeper layers of awareness and inner knowing. This can bring vivid imagery, symbolic messages, or a felt sense of connection to something greater than oneself. Time may feel fluid, and emotions or sensations can arise as old patterns release or insights emerge. Every journey is different and unique, and there is no way of “getting it wrong.” We trust that whatever arises during your journey is exactly what is needed at this time, offering the perfect opportunity for healing, exploration, or insight.

  • The frequency of journeying with the drum depends on your personal needs and intentions. Some people find regular journeys—such as monthly or seasonally—helpful for maintaining a connection with their inner world and spiritual growth. Others may journey during times of transition, when seeking guidance, or as part of their integration process after significant experiences. Ultimately, it’s about listening to what feels right for you and your journey.

  • The term “shamanic drum journey” typically refers to going on a shamanic journey guided by the steady rhythm of a drum. This practice involves entering a meditative or trance-like state to explore your inner world or access deeper layers of awareness. To begin, find a quiet, comfortable space where you can relax without distractions. Close your eyes, focus on the sound of the drumbeat, and allow it to guide you inward. Setting an intention—such as asking a question, focusing on a theme, or connecting with an aspect of yourself—can help direct the experience. While it is possible to journey on your own, working with an experienced guide offers a supportive container and deeper insights, especially for those new to this practice.
