Shamanic drum journeying
Shamanic drum journeying, a powerful practice rooted in ancient traditions, offers numerous benefits for the mind, body, and spirit. By immersing oneself in the rhythmic beats of the drum, one can embark on an inward journey to explore the realms of consciousness.
During a drum journey, the steady and repetitive drumming serves as a bridge between ordinary reality and the realms of the subconscious or spiritual dimensions. This rhythm helps induce a state of deep relaxation and heightened awareness, allowing individuals to access their inner wisdom and tap into their innate healing abilities.
One of the primary benefits is its capacity for personal transformation and self-discovery. Through the journey, individuals can gain insights, clarity, and guidance, helping them navigate life's challenges, make decisions, and deepen their understanding of themselves and their purpose.
On social media and energy
Written in December 2023
A few weeks ago I received a really clear insight into something I had already been feeling for a long time.
Social media operates like an energetic parasite, meticulously designed to feed on our contributions and emotions, fostering addiction while convincing us of its necessity for our mental health and careers.
When everything is stripped away
Distractions, people, jobs, relationships, health, illusions
So that all that is left is space.
To rest
To feel the yearning
To listen
To really hear
To go to the depths of the heart
and return home
To listen to the guidance of what is required next on the journey of remembering.
To embody love and access inner strength
This process isn't easy
It cannot be rushed
It hurts like hell
It is uncomfortable and scary at first
It takes trust and courage
And then with time
It becomes
Joy
A humbling
A gift
A new awareness that isn't taken for granted
Peace.
My teacher and lineage
It is true that Shamanism has become a trendy word and there are a lot of people offering Shamanic practices so I thought I would take some time to share my experience and training so you can decide if what I offer may be aligned with where you are at and what is important to you.
There is a lot of talk of cultural appropriation in this work, rightly so, and some practitioners are using processes, rituals and teachings without permission or knowing where it has come from and the respect and acknowledgment that it deserves. An important question to ask any practitioner in shamanic work is who are your teacher’s teachers?
Integration after peak experiences
I used to think that awareness was the key to healing, and YES it is so important and essential in the process of healing but it isn't enough alone. When we enter into altered states of consciousness, whether it be induced via plant medicines, drumming, dance, meditation, breathwork etc or spontaneously after connecting with nature or experiencing intense life changes such as deaths, births or physical illness, either way these states bring greater awareness about how we operate in the world and what the heart desires.
Nature as Medicine
I've been coming to this magical water hole near my place most mornings lately. I feel deep belonging here, love, acceptance and a sense of being a part of a whole. I feel insignificant yet at the same time so essential to the ecosystem and intricate Web of life.
